Bleeth was born in New York Metropolis, the daughter of Carina, a model, and Philip Bleeth, a enterprise proprietor. Her father Philip is Jewish of Russian and German extraction, her late mom Carina was of French and Algerian descent. Her earliest recognized acting role was in a Johnson & Johnson's No Extra Tears baby shampoo tv industrial at age 10 months in 1969. At the age of six, she appeared on Candid Camera. Later that 12 months she appeared in a Max Factor beauty advertising marketing campaign with model Cristina Ferrare. Her work on this marketing campaign caught the eye of trend photographer Francesco Scavullo, who subsequently included her and her mom in his e book entitled Scavullo Women.

Whole Film journal quoted Bleeth stating: "After I was a girl I used to need to drive boys to kiss me. My toughest good friend had to hold them down." She has also said that she was fashionable with the boys, and that female classmates had beat her up as a result.

Bleeth starred in her first movie in 1980 on the age of 12. She was forged reverse Buddy Hackett in the feature movie Hey Babe!. By the point she graduated from highschool, she had already been engaged on the soap opera Ryan's Hope since the age of 16. In 1991, she created the function of Lee Anne Demerest on the highly acclaimed cleaning soap opera One Life to Live.

When Bleeth was 20, her mom, Carina Bleeth, died from inflammatory  cancer at the age of 47. Bleeth said that she never accepted the fact that her mom was dying till she took her final breath
